Anyone who takes an interest in website monitoring knows that not all website content holds equal importance. While it's essential to keep a close watch on the critical sections of your site, there might be elements or sections that are less relevant or frequently changing, making constant monitoring unnecessary or even counterproductive. Recognizing this challenge, we are proud to introduce the "Selective Monitoring" feature into ChangeTower.

Selective Monitoring feature empowers you to fine-tune your monitoring experience, enabling you to focus on what truly matters while ignoring the noise. Whether you're managing a content-heavy news portal, an eCommerce site with frequently updated promotions, or a blog with dynamic comments, this feature ensures that you receive alerts only for the changes that matter most to you.

In this article, we'll guide you through setting this up in your account! Read below:

Step 1: Create a new monitor

Click on the 'New Monitor' button in your left navigation menu to start the monitor creation process. Select the 'Single Monitor' option on the screen that pops up next.

Step 2: Select the monitor type - for selective monitoring, the Content Monitor type would be the best fit!

Step 3: Enter the URL that you want to monitor

Step 4: Select elements for monitoring / ignoring

After you enter the URL, the next step will be to select the elements that you wish / do not wish to monitor. Click on the eponymous radio button, and then proceed with making these selections. Simply click on the page elements that you wish to monitor/ignore.

Step 5: Click Continue and proceed with monitor setup

In this step, you will set up your monitoring criteria (i.e number of words changed). ChangeTower will send an alert when X (the threshold you set) or more words on the page change.

Step 6: Select monitoring frequency and email notification preferences, click Save, and your monitor should be set up!
